Students and Parents,

I wanted to send home a quick message regarding marching practice in hope of clearing up a few questions.  We are going to make some major changes in the practice schedule this year.  Our attempt here is to try and get the students home as early as we can so that they can focus on homework and rest.  However, we do have a few minor obstacles to overcome in order to make this a reality. 

As of now the practice schedule will be as follows:

                Monday 3:00 – 5:30

                Tuesday 3:00 – 6:00

                Thursday 3:00 – 6:00

The two major issues here are that we have middle school students in the marching band and we have students who made commitments based upon the understanding that the schedule would be the same as last year. 

The middle school students do not get out of school until 4:00 and will be missing the first hour of practice each day.  Those students who made other commitments will be missing even more than that in most cases. 

We are going to attempt to go with this schedule for the first two weeks of school, if we find that these two issues are holding the entire group back we may need to make a few adjustments to the overall schedule.  If we do make the changes I will give you ample notice so that you can make the arrangements needed. 

If changes are made the schedule would be the following:

                Monday 3:30 – 6:00

                Tuesday 3:30 – 6:30

                Thursday 4:00 – 7:00

Your understanding is appreciated as we attempt to come up with the best possible solution for the students.  Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing all of you at the Gwinnett Braves game next weekend!
